Do I need structural calculations for a steel building?
Steel Building Structural Calculations
A question that frequently comes up in relation to steel-framed buildings & steel beams, is whether structural calculations are required for the project. Regarding steel-framed buildings, if the building is planned to be used for agricultural or storage purposes, then structural calculations are not a requirement. However, for an industrial building, structural calculations are required. When it comes to steel beams for domestic or commercial projects, structural calculations are required for the construction work. We don’t necessarily need to see the structural calculations in order to quote for the steel if you are able to identify what type & size of steel will be needed for the job, however we can interpret the structural calculations on the customers behalf if required. We do not have any structural engineers in-house, but we can recommend a couple of local companies.
What are Structural Calculations?
Structural Calculations are detailed calculations undertaken before a building or construction project has begun. The structural calculations outline full details of the building or project, and most importantly for us when quoting, include the dimensions & measurements of the supportive steel required.
When are Structural Calculations Required?
Structural Calculations are required when making any structural changes to a building.
Benefits of Structural Calculations
Structural Calculations are required when making any structural changes to a building. Structural calculations give whoever is carrying out the work a detailed plan of the site and materials required for the project. It also allows us, as a steel fabricator, to accurately quote & supply the exact steel that the customer requires with no wastage.
